Our services are tailored specifically for aircraft owners and flight clubs seeking professional instruction, checkouts, and recurrent training in their own aircraft.

Before instruction can begin, we require:

• That our instructor is named on the aircraft’s insurance policy.

• That a pre-instruction operational flight be conducted to verify aircraft airworthiness and performance.

Ground Instruction (Individualized Instruction)

Learn aviation theory your way, on-site or from the comfort of home via zoom. $140 for a two-hour ground lesson.

Flight Lessons (Dual Flight Instruction)

Basic and advanced flight instruction is available; see below for details. $140 for a two-hour flight lesson. *Student must provide aircraft.*

Private Pilot Training: Single Engine Land (SEL)

Minimum Requirements (FAR 61.109 and 61.105): The FAA requires 40 hours total flight time, including 20 hours dual instruction and 10 hours solo flight (5 cross-country). Ground instruction covers aerodynamics, weather, FAA regulations, and more.

National Average: 60-70 hours total flight time.

Typical Cost: $5,600 (includes $70/hour for 40 hours flight training and 40 hours ground instruction; approximate costs for instruction only). Additional fees for written exams and Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) apply. Costs do not include aircraft rental fees; students must provide their own airplane. All costs are approximate.

Instrument Rating Training (IR)

Minimum Requirements (FAR 61.65): The FAA requires 40 hours instrument flight (15 with CFII), 50 hours cross-country PIC, and an IFR cross-country of 250NM with three instrument approaches. Ground instruction covers IFR procedures, navigation, and FAA regulations.

Average: 50-60 hours total flight time.

Typical Cost: $4,900 (includes $70/hour for 40 hours flight training and 30 hours ground instruction; approximate costs for instruction only). Additional fees for written exams and Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) apply. Costs do not include aircraft rental fees; students must provide their own airplane. All costs are approximate.

Commercial Pilot Training: Single Engine Land (SEL)

Minimum Requirements (FAR 61.129): The FAA requires 250 hours total flight time, including 100 hours powered aircraft, 20 hours dual instruction (10 in a complex or TAA), Ground instruction includes commercial maneuvers, aerodynamics, and FAA regulations.

Average: 250-300 hours total flight time.

Typical Cost: $3,500 (includes $70/hour for 20 hours flight training and 30 hours ground instruction; approximate costs for instruction only). Multi-Engine Commercial Add-On Training (MEL)

Minimum Requirements (FAR 61.129(b)): The FAA requires 10 hours of flight training in a multi-engine airplane. Ground instruction includes multi-engine systems, aerodynamics, and emergency procedures.

Average: 10-15 hours total flight time.

Typical Cost: $1,400 (includes $70/hour for 10 hours flight training and 10 hours ground instruction; approximate costs for instruction only). Additional fees for written exams and Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) apply. Costs do not include aircraft rental fees; students must provide their own airplane. All costs are approximate.

Instructional Eligibility for Multi-Engine Aircraft (FAR 61.195(f)):
To provide instruction in a specific multi-engine model, the pilot must log 5 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time in that model before offering instruction.

CFI Insurance Requirement:
The CFI must be named in the insurance policy for the multi-engine airplane, as we do not cover CFI insurance for multi-engine training.

Certified Flight Instructor Training (CFI)

Minimum Requirements (FAR 61.183 and 61.187): The FAA does not mandate specific additional flight hours for CFI certification beyond the hours logged during commercial pilot training. Most students require 15-25 hours dual instruction, which includes spins, stalls, and advanced maneuvers. Ground instruction focuses on teaching techniques and FAA regulations.

Average: 15-25 hours total flight time.

Typical Cost: $2,100 (includes $70/hour for 15 hours flight training and 15 hours ground instruction; approximate costs for instruction only). Certified Flight Instructor—Instrument Add-On Training (CFII)

Flight Reviews (Biennial Flight Review, BFR)

Minimum Requirements (FAR 61.56): The FAA requires a flight review every 24 calendar months for all pilots operating under their certificate. This review must include at least 1 hour of ground instruction and 1 hour of flight training. However, most flight reviews typically take about 1.5 hours of ground instruction and 1.5 hours of flight training to ensure proficiency and cover required topics.

Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC)

Minimum Requirements FAR 61.57(d), the FAA does not mandate a specific number of approaches, but the check must include all required tasks outlined in the Instrument Rating Practical Test Standards (PTS), FAA-S-8081-4, including:

At least one precision approach (e.g., ILS, LPV)
At least one non-precision approach (e.g., VOR, LOC, LNAV)
A circling approach
A missed approach procedure
A holding procedure
Recovery from unusual attitudes

The FAA Instrument ACS (Airman Certification Standards) and FAA Advisory Circular 61-98C recommend including enough approaches to demonstrate proficiency in different approach types and scenarios relevant to the pilot's operational needs. Most IPCs typically include 3-5 approaches to cover these requirements adequately.
